Food Stock Availability in Jakarta is Safe Until Christmas and New Year

Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Agency ensured the availability of nine strategic foods to food BUMDs, such as PT. Food Station Tjipinang Jaya, PD. Dharma Jaya, and Perumda Pasar Jaya at Kramatjati Central Market.

The prices are also stable. Therefore, it is not necessary for panic buying

Based on stock availability and food procurement plans monitoring carried out by BUMD, it was ensured that food supply is safe for Christmas 2002 and New Year 2021.

Jakarta KPKP Agency Acting Head (Plt), Suharini Eliawati mentioned, Jakartans don't need to worry because Jakarta Government has committed to ensure staple foods availability in Jakarta.

"Based on our observation, strategic food stocks in importers, distributors, traditional markets, and supermarkets are safe. The prices are also stable. Therefore, it is not necessary for panic buying," she explained, Thursday (11/26).

Related to non-stockable commodities such as shallots and chilies, Jakarta KPKP Agency coordinated with related parties and business actors. "Until New Year, food stocks are safe because the producing areas are harvesting," she added.

In terms of quality, her side also carried out integrated fresh food monitoring on livestock, fisheries, and agricultural products.

"Monitoring is carried out to ensure food circulating well in Jakarta thus it is free from dangerous substances, such as formalin, pesticide residues, chlorine, and heavy metals," she asserted.

Her side confirmed that availability of nine strategic foods, including rice, beef, chicken, eggs, garlic, onions, chilies, sugar, and cooking oil are safe until Christmas 2020 and New Year 2021.
